- Lactase is a digestive enzyme needed to break down lactose (milk sugar). Lactase should be synthesized in the small intestine, however if this enzyme is not produced or are produced in low amounts, undigested lactose passes into the colon where it is fermented and hydrogen, carbon dioxide and organic acids are produced, causing cramping, gas and diarrhea.

Dosage:
Take 1 tablet before a meal that contains dairy products (lactose). It may take 2 tablets if the food contains a significant amount of dairy products. Do not exceed 3 tablets daily.
