Shark cartilage is the tissue that provides support to the fins of sharks (Squalus acanthias). It is a natural substance rich in proteins, calcium, phosphorus, collagen, glucosamine and chondroitin that play an essential role in the protection of joints, tendons and ligaments as well as helping cartilage elasticity. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties are attributed to it. In addition to these substances, it also has an important part of complex carbohydrates called mucopolysaccharides present in the synovial fluid that lines the joints.
